About Hand in Hand

Do you feel overwhelmed by your child's behaviors? Have those behaviors resulted in expulsion from child care? Do other parents give you looks that make you feel like a bad parent? Have family members even hinted that you might not be doing a good job raising your child?Toddler

You are not alone!

Hand in Hand has been working to help families who have young children with social, emotional and behavioral issues since 2008. Funded by the federal government, the program was designed to help families move through the mental health care system smoothly and easily.

Hand in Hand has focused its efforts on Hood, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker and Tarrant Counties outside of the Fort Worth city limits. Its goals have included finding children with serious emotional issues early when treatments and other interventions are most effective. As a part of its mission, Hand in Hand provided Wraparound to children between birth and age 6. Because the grant ends on September 29, 2014, Hand in Hand is no longer accepting new Wraparound clients. However, families can call
817-335-3022 for information on other agencies offering Wraparound.

Two GirlsIn addition to working with children, Hand in Hand has partnered with Camp Fire First Texas to provide specialized training to child care providers within Hand in Hand's service area.

As a part of its mission, Hand in Hand is dedicated to educating the community about mental health and behavioral issues in young children. It has worked with Mental Health Connection, which is the Tarrant County System of Care, to create and implement a community awareness campaign about the impact of trauma on children. Additionally, knowing that many people will not reach out for help because they fear the stigma and "labeling" that might affect their children, Hand in Hand has worked to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Most of all, Hand in Hand exists to ensure families of children with emotional, behavioral and social issues that they are not alone.
